Scholarships & Discounts
What does reciprocity at RAC look like?
We ask students who are receiving classes on scholarship to honor that gift by showing up. Be an attentive student who is on time or early to class. Arrive with a commitment to learn, an appreciation for the space, and a openness to help out others who are new. Offer to run the door at our events, be the face that welcomes others, or help with cleaning tasks around the space. We always need people to help hang flyers around town and be willing to share your experience with your networks. All of those things and more can help support us in our work to offer Resistance Arts Collective to our community.
Our goal is to turn no student away…
We do unfortunately require money to operate our business and eventually help offset the costs we have incurred to create this space. That said, money is not the only means by which students can give back to RAC. It’s worth noting that while we have “scholarship” students who do not pay us money, we do not train students for free. To give space and teaching with no exchange would burn us out as builders of this space and experience. However, we are open to training students in exchange for things other than money.
That is reciprocity.
If you are someone who may need a scholarship to
afford classes, talk to your instructor.
About our fees:
In this initial phase of Resistance Arts Collective, none of us are taking a salary or compensation for our work. We are focusing on expanding our schedule, purchasing supplies, and setting the groundwork for a time when we can rent a larger and more accessible space that will allow us to increase our program offerings and eventually compensate staff. We are so grateful to our members who sustain our work and our mission and who trust us to build this collective with their financial contributions.
Price Guide: Use the guide below to help assist you in choosing the price that is right for you.
Tier 1: If you find yourself thinking about how to cover your basic needs each month, we urge you not to pay more than this tier and would encourage you to be in contact with us if this level of monthly cost ever increases that burden on you. This tier is for those who want to support the Collective but are in a place in their life when money is tight.
Tier 2: If you are in a place of financial stability and do not struggle to support yourself and the basic needs of your household, this tier may be for you. This tier will help the Collective grow and expand in our space and our mission to bring martial arts to everyone who wants to train.
Tier 3: If you are in a place of financial comfort and would like to contribute to both the growth of the Collective and support us in continuing to offer other tiers of membership, this is the tier for you. Tier 3 membership is what will help the Collective remain accessible to those in need and continue to expand our ability to provide classes at a high level and expand our work.
10 Class Pass: We strongly encourage everyone to commit to a monthly tier, however we recognize that some folks may be joining us with an existing martial arts practice at another space. If you are interested in this option, please reach out.
